    Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology – Overview

    The PhD in Psychology helps the research scholar to have a better insight about the behavioral and mental process of the human beings. The course work emphasizes on the various tools and techniques used in research and also provides deeper knowledge about the quantitative and qualitative analysis in research. PhD programme in Psychology encourages research Scholars to conduct research in the areas like Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Cross –Cultural Psychology and Social Cognition.     • Students who have completed their post-graduation from an international university must submit an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

    Fee Structure

    • Admission Registration fee of INR 5000/ (Non-Refundable)
    • Programme fee as per the below table

For subsequent years, fees must be paid annually on or before 15th March.# The fee for Full Time PhD Scholars, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.

    It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for two years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.


    • NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. In subsequent years Other Indian States fee will be applicable.

    (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).


    • NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who:
    • Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
    • Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.

    • To claim the Indian category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).

    • Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- (US $80 for foreign nationals/PIO/OCI) is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if any applicable.

    • All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option: Payment can be made through Net banking / NEFT / RTGS Payment / Transfer of fees does not guarantee admission.

    The duration of the coursework will be 6 months from the date of allotment of research supervisor to the candidate and shall be counted within the overall normal duration of three years for the PhD programme. The coursework covers topics on research practices and doctoral education, higher education and academic communication, leadership and development in academic practice, research tools and methods and academic writing. Each course has a specified syllabus divided into three to four units. Attendance is mandatory for all the courses and the students with less than 85% attendance will be required to repeat the course work. Students lacking in attendance will not be allowed to make their proposal presentation or to appear for the end semester examination. All courses will have continuous internal assessments (CIA) and a final examination. Scholars are expected to obtain minimum required marks to be eligible for finalization of their admission.

    Students who have completed their post-graduation from an international university must submit an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

    It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for two years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.


    • NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. In subsequent years Other Indian States fee will be applicable.

    (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).


    • NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who:
    • Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
    • Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.

    • To claim the Indian category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).

    • Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- (US $80 for foreign nationals/PIO/OCI) is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if any applicable.

    • All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option: Payment can be made through Net banking / NEFT / RTGS Payment / Transfer of fees does not guarantee admission.
